- You don't save just the echo, you save all the settings at once. E1&W
- does nothing if there's no AT before it. When the modem is in the mode
- you want, type AT&W.

- Also check the &Y setting. If the modem is set to &Y1, it will load
- configuration 1 at startup instead of configuration 0, so you'll need to
- send either AT&Y0 to make it load config 0 or AT&W1 to store your settings
- in config 1.
